GCGSI Event: Finding Your Revolutionary Roots: A FamilySearch Workshop

In keeping with the America 250 celebration and our organization’s goal of providing tools for researching your ancestry, GCGSI will host “Finding Your Revolutionary Roots: A FamilySearch Workshop” on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 10:00. a.m. until 12:00 noon in the Gilmer County Library’s Upper Level Community Room. The facilitator will be Rebecca Holt Amerson, our resident FamilySearch.org wizard. Attendees are asked to bring laptops or tablets and your parents’ and grandparents’ names with birth and death dates for use during your hands-on research. The workshop will explore census, land, and probate records and even more documentation using the powerful full-text search capabilities of FamilySearch.org, a free online research platform. You are invited to attend this free workshop with Ms. Amerson as she leads you in this search for your roots.
