On March 20 synth-pop pioneer Gary Numan brings his visionary sound to Paramount Hudson Valley Theater. From the moment he first stepped onto Top of the Pops in 1979 with Tubeway Army’s groundbreaking hit “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?” Numan has challenged conventions and reshaped the future of electronic music. Over a remarkable four-decade career he has achieved seven Top 10 singles—including “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?” and his debut solo hit “Cars”—alongside eight Top 10 albums three of which topped the charts and received the prestigious Ivor Novello Inspiration Award for his profound influence on generations of artists. His innovative fusion of mechanical soundscapes and emotional storytelling established him as a singular force in modern music. Numan’s more recent work continues his legacy of bold concept-driven creativity. His acclaimed albums Savage (Songs From A Broken World) and Intruder both reached #2 on the UK charts delving into themes of climate change human fragility and the Earth’s rebellion against its inhabitants. Tracks like “Intruder” “A Black Sun” and “The End of Dragons” showcase his ability to balance industrial ferocity with introspection wrapped in a sound both futuristic and deeply human. His live shows amplify these ideas through hypnotic visuals and pulsating synth-driven energy creating an immersive and unforgettable experience. Following a world-spanning Intruder tour—including over 130 performances and a U.S. run with Ministry—Numan has returned to the studio to craft his 23rd album slated for release in early 2026.
