About this Event
In towns and cities nature is often a lot closer than you think. Urban spaces can provide surprisingly good opportunities for pollinators like bees, butterflies, and other insects that keep our ecosystems healthy. And with a little encouragement, any garden, no matter how small, can become a magnet for urban butterflies.
Join Andy, gardener and self proclaimed urban nature nerd at Plant CIC, for a practical and inspiring workshop designed to help you transform your outdoor space into a haven for pollinators. Learn which plants to cultivate to provide pollen and nectar for insects all year round and find out more about the kinds of habitats that will encourage pollinators to visit and make their homes in your outdoor space.
From native wildflowers to cottage garden favourites, Andy will talk through some of his favourite plants that are a magnet for urban pollinators and you'll also have the opportunity to propagate some pollinator-friendly plants to take home and grow.
This workshop will take place outdoors. In the event of rain an overhead cover will be provided but please wear weather appropriate clothing.
Please note: this workshop is suitable for adults and older children. Participants under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
