Dance is more fun when you stop forcing it and start discovering it.
Learn to break patterns and experiment with leverage in a fusion workshop that mixes Contact Improvisation ideas with fusion social-dance superpowers. Your teachers are Lizzy and Simon - dancers who traverse different dance scenes and combine many styles into a fusion of fun.
We have partnered with our friends Body Chorus in the Contact Improv community to merge concepts from contact improv into the structured lead/follow dance world.

Blues + West Coast Swing + Slow Lindy, Tango, Zouk + Salsa/Bachata + Contact Improv… all in one playground.
😃 No choreography. No memorised patterns.
😃 Just real-time movement experiments that make your dancing way more surprising, fluid + fun.
😃 You can bring these concepts into patterns you already know to extend and vary every day moves
We’ll explore:
- Rolling points of contact (hands, arms, shoulders, backs - that actually travel)
- Weight-sharing and “parkour-like” counterbalances that bring a smile when that magical connection happens
- Using momentum instead of killing it (creating extended flow)
- Switching roles mid-move (no leader pedestal, no follower waiting)
- Falling on purpose and creating new levels within your existing movements
This is for intermediate / advanced dancers who want to break shape, break habit, and find the “what the hell just happened but THAT FELT GOOD” moments.
If you like rides, counterbalance and creating new moves, this is for you. Contact Improv principles - but made practical for social dance floors.
Bring your curiosity, no fixed partner required
Wear clothes you can move in.
We’ll handle the physics - you just show up ready to play.
Let’s make chaos- with technique.
Suitable for
- Experienced lead/follow dancers from any style who want to add an extra level of fluidity to their dance
- Contact Improv dancers who want to enhance a lead/follow structure found using social dance techniques.
This session will be a wonderful merging of people from many different dance communities to explore new concepts.

The space will be open from 5:30pm - 8:30pm, with a group warm up before workshop, and 30 min group fusion & contact improv jam time at the end of workshop.
