FURNISHING JAZZ (Fall-Winter 2026) - a chamber jazz concert series
About this Event
2026 PROGRAM
Friday, September 4th
Guitarists Elliot Freedman and John Stowell
Guitarist-composer Elliot Freedman is joined by Portland’s master jazz guitarist John Stowell. Defying definitions of jazz guitar in tones & techniques, deeply listenable, harmonically elegant music will be shared (with bassist Dan Howard).
Friday, October 9th
Saxophonist Ryan Oliver and bassist Louis Rudner
A giant of Canadian jazz, reedsman Ryan Oliver presents a less muscular but no less virtuosic side of himself in a duo with bassist Louis Rudner that will deepen appreciations of the art of jazz beyond its foundational Standards.
Friday, November 6th
Vibraphonist Nick Apivor and bassist Dan Howard
Stunningly sonorous is vibraphonist Nick Apivor—especially on a repertoire of modern, non-canonical jazz presented in a duo with bassist Dan Howard.
Friday, December 4th
Pianist Chris Gestrin on Fender Rhodes & Moog Bass
With repertoire & instrumentation honouring the 1970s electric exploits of jazz pianists, Chris Gestrin plays on the Fender Rhodes, whose bell-like tones will shimmer rich voicings and exciting lines, and with classic Moog synth bass.
