Blending the pulsating energy of Latin jazz with the raw drive of funk, the band creates a sound that’s vibrant and bursting with passion. Expect the hypnotic sway of Cuban clave, Afro-Cuban fire, samba flavours, electric basslines, jagged guitar riffs, and thunderous percussion , all tied together with improvisational flair and jazz sophistication.
Dave Betts is no stranger to pushing musical boundaries. Having collaborated with artists from Peter Gabriel to jazz pianist Jason Rebello, and composers like David Fanshawe (African Sanctus), his reputation as one of Britain’s most versatile drummers and percussionists is well earned. His unique ability to play multiple percussion instruments at once adds a thrilling intensity to every live performance.
Formed in 2000 as a showcase for Betts’ original compositions, the Quintet has built a legacy of innovation and groove. With four acclaimed albums, including a live recording from their residency at Ronnie Scott’s, and the latest release These Times featuring Australian tenor saxophonist Brandon Allen, their music continues to captivate audiences across the UK.
