Every year THE MAX chooses a local CT person to be the recipient of our fundraising efforts for Breast Cancer Awareness month. We have a charity class, sell t-shirts and accept donations. We are honored to select Angela Reaney as our recipient this year. Please learn about Angela below."My name is Angela, and earlier this year my life changed forever when I was diagnosed with triple-positive breast cancer. Hearing the words “you have cancer” is something no one is ever prepared for—and in that moment, everything I knew was turned upside down.
Since my diagnosis, I’ve faced some of the hardest moments of my life. I underwent a double mastectomy, a surgery that not only took a toll on me physically but also emotionally, as it’s a reminder every day of the battle I’m fighting. Now, I am beginning chemotherapy, with hormone therapy to follow. This path is long, difficult, and at times overwhelming—but I refuse to give up.
I want you to know, though—I am so much more than my diagnosis.
I am a proud mother of two beautiful daughters, and my heart is overflowing as I prepare to become a grandmother for the very first time. That little grandbaby is already my biggest motivation to keep pushing forward, to fight through the pain, and to imagine brighter days ahead.
I am also an animal lover, always finding comfort in the unconditional love of my dogs. I’ve always been a nature lover, happiest when I was hiking trails, breathing in fresh air, and feeling at peace outdoors. And for years, I was an avid softball player, finding strength and joy on the field with my team. These are the pieces of me that cancer cannot take away.
But the truth is—fighting cancer is not just a physical and emotional battle, it’s a financial one too. Between medical bills, time away from work, travel to countless appointments, and daily living expenses, the weight is more than I can carry alone.
Any donation, no matter how small, will help lift some of the financial burden and allow me to focus on what truly matters: healing, recovering, and being here for my family—especially my soon-to-arrive grandbaby. 💗
I share my story because I believe in the power of community, hope, and love. If my journey can inspire even one person to get their mammogram, or remind someone they are not alone, then my story has purpose beyond my fight.
I am still me—Angela. A mother, a soon-to-be grandmother, a friend, a fighter, and a woman who refuses to let cancer define her. This battle is hard, but with faith, love, and support—I will win.
