Join experts from the Historic Environment Division (HED) for an introductory workshop in the traditional art of stone carving.During this hands-on session, you’ll learn the basics of stone masonry and carve your very own door number plaque to take home. Guided by experienced practitioners who work to maintain and repair Northern Ireland’s state care monuments, you’ll gain insight into a craft rooted in heritage and preservation.
This taster workshop is perfect for anyone with an interest in stone masonry - whether you’re an enthusiast, considering training as a stonemason, or work in construction and want to better understand traditional materials.
No prior experience is required. A full-day experience with lunch included.
What to know:
-This workshop takes place on Thursday 5th March from 10:00 to 15:00. Please book your ticket through the link above.
-Lunch from the Ulster Folk Museum's Tea Rooms is included in the cost of this workshop.
-For ages 16+. No experience needed and all materials required.
