Join us for a luminous early-summer evening on the river as we gather under the Strawberry Moon, a full moon that has long marked the height of growth, blooming, and abundance. This is the season when plants flower, berries ripen, crops are tended, and new life fills the landscape—an ideal moment to be out on the water together.
Pedaling along in Hobie pedal kayaks makes this nighttime river experience feel playful and easy. As the light softens and the moon rises, you’ll glide with your community through warm air and shimmering reflections, soaking in the richness of summer.
Across many Native American cultures, June’s full moon reflects these same themes of vitality and renewal, and is known by names such as: Strawberry Moon (Algonquin, Ojibwe, Dakota, Lakota), Berries Ripen Moon (Haida), Blooming Moon (Anishinaabe), Green Corn Moon (Cherokee), Hoer Moon (Western Abenaki), Hot Moon (recorded in the 18th century by Captain Jonathan Carver), Birth Moon (Tlingit), Egg Laying Moon and Hatching Moon (Cree).
Each name points to a living landscape—fruiting, flowering, warming, and renewing itself—mirroring what we feel when we spend an evening immersed in nature. What will we see on our outing in our own backyard?
$60 per person includes everything: Hobie pedal kayak, experienced guide, PFD, all gear, and a beautiful summer moonlit river experience.
🍓 Come play on the river at night!
