Our Glasgow conference will bring together leading legal experts in Scots law to reflect on the challenges and updates in Estate Administration. Info: How many times have you received a call with someone saying, “I want to challenge a will”? This session will look at what this means in Scots law, the practical steps, what actions can be raised, what resolutions are available and how it works in practice.

Info: In this session Dominic will work through the workflow or timeline of an executory file and, using real life case studies, will aim to demonstrate how and when practitioners can use the right support and expertise in order to lower or eliminate risk, keep costs down and help a case to run even more smoothly.

Info: As professional advisers, we often say and write things in particular ways and use words with special meanings. We know what we mean but are we confident that our clients and others with whom we communicate really understand what we are telling them? In this session, Ian Macdonald will explore how we can improve the construction, wording, layout and presentation of our letters, emails, documents and reports so they convey what we want to say more easily and can be better understood. Making improvements will avoid frustrations and misunderstandings and save time and money.

• Practical points to consider when administering an estate
• Key issues for practitioners to consider in succession planning
• A summary of tax on a private pension the beneficiary inherits
• The revival of the Pension Commission

Info: In this talk, Euan will examine how and why powers of attorney and guardianships can fail, from breakdowns in communication to instances of misuse or misconduct. Drawing on real-life cases, he will explore the warning signs, remedies, and preventative measures that professionals can use to protect vulnerable individuals and resolve disputes efficiently.
