Painting the Big Sky: Painting Light, Sky and Sea
June 19 & 20, 2026
10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
Instructor: Sabine Baeckmann
Participants will explore techniques for painting dramatic cloud formations, including how to build volume
and form through value shifts, soften and loose edges to create atmosphere, and use temperature and
color variation to suggest light moving through the sky. Students may work from provided reference
images or bring their own, encouraging personal interpretation while applying the techniques presented.
Substantial one-on-one instruction with be provided throughout both days.
