Fujifilm and Imagen8 | THE BREATHING EARTH: A Study in Motion Exhibition
About this Event
THE BREATHING EARTH: A Study in Motion
Description:
We often view nature as a static backdrop, but through the lenses of these young artists, we see a world that is vividly alive. THE BREATHING EARTH explores the movements that define our environment - a white-fronted tern in flight, a spot by the Karamatura stream, a Hector's dolphin cutting through the water, waves at Piha beach, a playful puppy at the Pukekohe adoption centre, and more. These young photographers (ages 10–17) invite you to slow down and witness the beauty of our living breathing planet that is always on the move.
About IMAgEN8
IMAgEN8 is a registered charity established in 2019 whose purpose is to nurture a love for nature in youth ages 8-18 through photography. We run workshops that bring young people outdoors, build their photography skills, improve knowledge and stewardship of our natural environment, and enhance their mental wellbeing. Our borrow-a-camera and Nature Photographer programs enable students to capture compelling stories about nature and human relationships with nature, and deepen their bonds with our environment.
Youth wellbeing is of increasing concern due to social media, device addiction, academic pressures and increased global polarisation. Time in nature improves their mental wellbeing and nature photography is a unique method for artistic expression and learning that connects the creative mind with the natural environment.
