Come and join me in the opening of my very own exhibition FRUIT of the GODS. This exhibition is an investigation into how the symbology of fruit can invoke meaning, understanding and emotion for our human experience.
In the ancient world, the fruits of the earth were considered as the most delectable inspiration for art, poetry and recipes. The symbology of fruit has conveyed an array of expressions across history: lust, sensuality, fertility, temptation, mortality, revolution and as a motif of beauty.
In modern society, fruit is too often reduced to tasteless, bruised offerings on a supermarket shelf, merely mirroring its former glory. It’s all a matter of perception and appreciation. There is a call for us to take pleasure in a simple piece of fruit to awaken our connection to earth once again!
Abundant trees were once considered “blessed by the gods” and continued to sustain communities living off the land of centuries. If sweet, luscious fruit is an offering suited for the Gods then we as mortals are blessed to enjoy this luxury. FRUIT of the GODS is a celebration of the magic that fruit has to inspire our souls and reconnect us with our senses.
