Do you have a stack of books hanging by their hinges? Attend an introductory workshop that will guide you through repairing your personal books to ensure their longevity for the future.
In this workshop, you will learn how to assess damage and perform simple repairs to books from your personal collection. We will also briefly cover how to test and store delicate items in an archival manner. Information will also be provided on how to photocopy a missing page from a library transfer to tip in.
Repairs we will cover:
- Torn pages, aligning text
- Tightening hinges
- Tipping in a loose page
- Book corner reinforcement
- Erasing pencil
- Preventing water damage
Please bring a worn book from home to be assessed/repaired in the workshop. This workshop is not intended to repair current library materials. No registration is required. Intended for teens and adults.
