John McDonagh and Al Gonzales present "From the BQE to QED," every second Thursday of the month. New York storytellers will tell stories about New York in the home of New York storytelling - QED in Astoria, Queens. LINEUP FOR SEPTEMBER 12TH*
David Rothenberg, Founder of the Fortune Society:On the 53rd anniversary of the Attica prison massacre, David will share the story of how he was summoned by the leaders of the uprising at Attica Prison to witness their negotiations with the state, during which 43 people were killed.
Joe Corcoran: Joe will discuss his experience co-producing the original New York production of "Tony n' Tina's Wedding."
John McDonagh: John will recount the time he offered a free ride in his Yellow cab to any Republican delegate who wanted to fight in the Iraq War during the 2004 Republican Convention in NYC.
Anoush Froundjian: Is a storyteller and cartoonist who has finally gotten comfortable with her first name. When she isn’t telling stories, she draws a line of greeting cards and cartoons for Anoush Talks to Stuff, a web comic about a girl who talks to inanimate objects. Hear fascinating stories from the people who keep NYC running, from construction workers, cabbies, cops and fireman to community activists, and anyone with an interesting story to tell. Every month will also feature a storyteller from the Fortune Society, giving a unique perspective of the ups and downs of life in NYC. If you want to laugh, cry and everything in between, come to Astoria for tales from NYC and enjoy a drink or two while you're there.

* Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to posted start time to allow time for check in, seating and getting drinks & snacks. We place all hot food orders at once at the top of the show to limit disruptions.
* NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES, NO EXCEPTIONS - VERY LIMITED SEATING. If you cannot attend, you can transfer your tickets to someone else but they will not be honored for a future date. YOU MUST email [email protected] if you intend to transfer tickets to another person.
* No outside food or drinks. QED serves beer, wine, coffee, tea, soda & lots of snacks with hot pub food available for order prior to the show.
* RAIN OR SHINE - Shows are never canceled due to weather except when the MTA shuts down which is hardly ever. So please DO NOT buy a ticket if you have issues traveling in inclement weather.
