You’ve started saving. But when does it make sense to start investing?

This practical workshop explores the move from simply putting money aside to considering how your money could work harder over the longer term.

The session will introduce the fundamentals of investing, the relationship between risk and potential return, and some of the key questions to consider before deciding whether you are ready to invest.

You’ll explore:

• Understanding risk and potential return
• Some of the main ways people can invest
• The importance of diversification
• Questions to consider before investing
• Common mistakes new investors should understand

This is an introductory session. You do not need previous investment experience or specialist financial knowledge to participate.

The workshop forms part of Building Financial Futures 2026, a full-day event bringing together individuals, families, business owners, financial professionals and community organisations to explore financial resilience, wealth, careers, property, business ownership and long-term financial planning.
