A global dialogue on regenerative cities as bioregional systems connecting urban and rural territories, ecosystems, communities and business
About this Event

One year after the launch of the Regenerative Cities Manifesto at NYCW 2025, and following the presentation of the Regenerative Cities Report at Venice Climate Week 2026,co-developed by Tokyo Tatemono and the Future Food Institute,  this session will advance the conversation from shared principles and global evidence toward place-based implementation.

Over the past year, Tokyo Tatemono has continued to translate this regenerative vision into practice, building on initiatives such as Otemachi Forest and its collaboration with SeaVegetable. Together, these experiences are helping explore how urban development can contribute to stronger relationships between cities, ecosystems, communities, and regional economies.

Regenerative initiatives often remain fragmented across cities, businesses, communities, food systems, and natural ecosystems. The discussion will explore how these individual actions can be connected into integrated bioregional models capable of generating long-term ecological, social, cultural, and economic value.

Selected global actors already implementing regenerative practices will compare different bioregional approaches, sharing practical lessons on how cities and their surrounding territories can reinforce one another, and how place-based ecosystems can create new forms of long-term value.

Within this international dialogue, Tokyo Tatemono will introduce Yugawara as an evolving strategic case for translating regeneration into concrete, place-based action.
