From Paper Trails to Digital Assurance:
About this Event
Please note: this event is for over 18’s only.
Quality assurance is no longer just about inspections, audits and paperwork. As construction projects become more complex and compliance requirements continue to grow, organisations are increasingly turning to digital technologies to improve quality, reduce risk and create a reliable evidence trail throughout the asset lifecycle.
This presentation explores how modern tools including BIM, mobile management apps, digital handover systems, IoT monitoring and Artificial Intelligence can support better outcomes from bid and design through construction, handover and operation. Through practical examples and applications, attendees will gain an understanding of how technology can transform quality assurance from a reactive process into a proactive, data-driven approach that improves compliance, captures organisational knowledge and delivers lasting value for project teams, clients and building operators.
CONTENT
Intro – why quality goes wrong?
Common issues – project delays, information communication issues, lessons learned that get repeated…
Increasing compliance demands / golden thread – light tough as other CPD’s have covered BSA themes, better than I could.
Evidence based assurance – ITP’s
Traditional > Modern e.g. paper forms > mobile apps, siloed information > connected data, manual reporting > automated dashboards > predicted analytics
Quality in the project lifecycle
BIM / digital design / clash detection = quality designed in
Efficiency in take-off and estimating / WLCC, efficient pricing
Mobile apps – snagging, site inspection, use of 360 capture cameras, Digital permits, asset tracking, drone surveys > digital data = quality evidence
Handover > Asset information models / registers = digital golden thread
Operational optimisation – building monitoring > IoT sensors, planned maintenance > CAFM systems, asset performance = occupant performance and energy saving
AI and QA
AI for design review, compliance checks, inspection records, RAMS
AI for site assistant > Baxall’s current KTP – site assistance app
AI for organisational knowledge > lessons learned
AI for admin – meeting notes, actions tracking
Challenges and risks – poor data = bad outcomes, Faster bad processes? Issues.. user adoption, information governance, compliance
Practical AI adoption
The future… AI site assistants, automated compliance checks, digital twins (mainstream), dashboards, AI vision > connected information.
This learning activity can contribute to your annual CPD return and should be logged accordingly.
