From Paper to Performance: Fall Industry Outreach Workshop
About this Event
Your facility has an emergency response plan. But when was the last time you actually tested it?
Join the Kent County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) for a fast-paced, half-day workshop built around one idea: turning your emergency plans into real, practicable exercises. This year's Fall Industry Outreach Workshop — From Paper to Performance: Turning Emergency Plans into Real-World Readiness — brings together Tier II facility representatives, public safety, healthcare, emergency management and other stakeholders from across the region for a morning of quick-hitting, TED-talk-style sessions. No long lectures. No wasted time.
Why This Matters:
Most facilities already have plans in place — Tier II Off-Site Response Plans required under EPCRA/SARA Title III, and internal on-site plans required under OSHA and NFPA. This workshop shows you how a lightweight, voluntary exercise process can validate what's already in your plan, surface real gaps, and strengthen your facility's readiness — and the readiness of the whole community around you.
We've confirmed with Michigan State Police Emergency Management & Homeland Security Division that this process is not a regulatory requirement for private industry. Nothing here is about compliance or penalties — it's about giving you a practical tool you can use at whatever level makes sense for your facility.
What You'll Get:
• Practical, Not Punitive — a voluntary, no-cost way to stress-test your plans, with no penalties for what you find.
• Fast-Paced Format — a TED-talk style morning of quick, focused sessions from a full lineup of local experts.
• Community Resilience — build stronger connections with fire, EMS, public health, and law enforcement partners.
Who Should Attend:
• Tier II / chemical facility EHS and safety managers
• Facility emergency coordinators and planners
• Public safety and emergency management professionals
• Healthcare and public health partners
• Anyone involved in local emergency planning or response
