About this Event
Global health is at an inflection point: the institutional, financial, and political arrangements that shaped the last three decades of progress are under strain. Multilateral systems face declining trust and resources, development assistance is fragmenting, private and philanthropic actors are playing increasingly influential roles, and countries are navigating complex trade-offs between sovereignty, sustainability, and solidarity.
At the same time, the burden of disease is shifting, inequities persist, and primary health care systems, which have long been recognized as the foundation of resilient and equitable health systems, remain underinvested and underpowered.
This moment of disruption brings risk, but also opportunity: to move beyond short-term projects and pilots toward rebuilding the global health architecture that is people-centred, locally led, systems-oriented, and capable of delivering lasting impact.
This side event aims to:
- Name the realities of the current global health transition with honesty and clarity
- Showcase a concrete, people-centred, country-led model for doing global health differently
- Convene leaders across sectors to explore how power, trust, and partnership must evolve in this new era
