From Bars to Ballads: A Hip-Hop Writing Lab
About this Event
What happens when a rap verse meets the resonance of classical music?
Led by Nija Maxwell, this interactive songwriting workshop invites participants to explore the craft of rap through rhythm, storytelling, wordplay, and live classical accompaniment. This workshop plays at the intersection of musical traditions, exploring what becomes possible when hip-hop lyricism and classical sound enter into conversation.
Through guided writing exercises, participants will develop their own verses, experiment with cadence and flow, and explore how a story changes when words are placed against classical instrumentation. Whether you're an experienced writer or have never written a bar, come ready to listen, experiment, and discover the music already living inside your words.
No previous songwriting or musical experience is required.
