Recharge, Reflect, Flourish: Spend Your Friday at the Morven Sustainability Lab

This spring, Morven welcomes UVA students, faculty, and staff every Friday from 10AM - 5PM. Whether you're seeking a peaceful walk through the gardens, a shaded spot to focus on coursework or remote office work, or simply a moment to recharge in nature, these open days offer a perfect retreat. Stroll along forested paths, admire the seasonal blooms, or bring a blanket and relax on the expansive lawns. When available, our indoor spaces provide comfortable seating, Wi-Fi access, and plenty of natural light—ideal for reading, writing, or collaborating with peers.

Please Note: What to Expect

Fridays @ Morven provides open access to our grounds each week, but indoor facility availability varies by date depending on other scheduled events. Upon arrival at the Gatehouse, you'll receive a handout indicating which buildings are open that day. We recommend planning for outdoor activities and bringing appropriate gear.

These open Fridays differ from our Student Days programming—there is no transportation service, structured activities, or food provisions. We encourage you to bring your own snacks and water, and to be mindful of other events that may be taking place on site.

Logistics:

• Guests must provide their own transportation
• Check in at the Gatehouse upon arrival for parking directions and building access information
• Pets are not permitted; leashed service animals as defined by the ADA are welcome
