Freedom Beats is a full-day cultural and media arts experience honoring the legacy, artistry, and lived history of Long Island hip hop. Hosted by Share Inform Enlighten and The Carll Hill Foundation, in partnership with the Cinema Arts Centre, this Juneteenth program brings together film, dialogue, music, and community engagement in a dynamic celebration of regional cultural impact.
The event features a powerful documentary film: Long Island Underground Legends of Hip Hop, directed by filmmaker Archie Snowden. The screening will be followed by a live panel discussion with filmmaker, legendary hip hop artists, and cultural contributors, offering audiences the opportunity to engage directly with the stories and voices that shaped Long Island’s hip hop movement.

Throughout the day, guests will enjoy light refreshments, music curated by the Legendary DJ Belal, and a dedicated Video Lounge where short oral history interviews will be recorded to document the ongoing cultural influence of hip hop in our region.
A portion of the proceeds from Freedom Beats will benefit the Huntington African American Museum, supporting its mission to preserve and celebrate African American history and culture with an emphasis on Huntington’s African American heritage.
