CAC Book ClubLIFE OF PI
Screening and discussion on:
Monday, June 15th at 7:30 PM
Join us for the latest event of our new CAC Book Club where we'll be examining exciting works of literature and their film counterparts. Read the book prior to the event then join us for a film screening and discussion to reflect on characters, storylines and the central themes that drive the story’s impact across the two mediums. Come share your ideas and viewpoint in this engaging conversation with our community.
The next program will take place on Monday, June 15th. Prior to the screening, we will read Yan Martel’s 2001 novel Life of Pi, and then watch Ang Lee’s Academy Award-winning film adaptation, followed by a discussion of both.
After a cataclysmic shipwreck, young Pi Patel (Suraj Sharma) finds himself stranded on a lifeboat with the only other survivor - a ferocious Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. Bound by the need to survive, the two are cast on an epic journey that must be seen to be believed. Featuring screen legend Irrfan Khan as an adult Pi. (USA, Taiwan, UK, Canada, India, France 2007, 122 mins, PG, English | Dir. Ang Lee)
Copies of Yan Martel’s Life of Pi are available, in person or online, from our friends at The Next Chapter in Huntington!
