Free Walk & Talk - Bushfoods 4 Biodiversity:This Free Walk & Talk hosted by Flora 4 Fauna - Australia will highlight the native Australian bushfoods, medicinal plants, fauna attractors and utility trees found in and around the gardens and talk about the wide range of native edible plants that found throughout South-East Queensland & Northern NSW.
The event will be held at the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens, 230 Ashmore Road, Benowa, 4271, QLD, starting at 10am and concluding at approx. 12:00 noon.
During this Free Walk & Talk, you will be introduced to a range of native Australian bushfoods and other useful native plants to learn about their many benefits, uses and applications in modernity.
We will discuss their ancient botanical history, their current conservation status and touch on the health benefits of these remarkable plants!
We will also talk about the host relationships these plants have with the specific wildlife, including native birds, bees and butterflies, etc.
This Free Walk & Talk is a great introduction to bushfoods and other useful plants of SEQ for those interested in the subject matter and are wanting to learn more about the plants around them and the benefits these plants can have on our day-to-day lives!

* We will meet at the carpark near the Wallum / Banksia Woodland section of the gardens at approx. 09:45am. The meeting point carpark is located in-between the 'Feature Lake' and Lake Rosser!

** We will also be bringing a range of Native Australian bushfood and bush medicine plants that we will see on the walk and will be made available for sale after the event, for those who may be interested in starting their own biodiverse bushfood garden, etc.
The plants are $5 each and all purchases are cash only!
Please make sure that you bring the following items on the day:
- Sunhat;
- Sunglasses;
- Sunscreen;
- Insect Repellent;
- Climate and activity appropriate clothing;
- Closed walking shoes (Recommended);
- A light raincoat / small umbrella (Just in case);
- A camera (Recommended but not essential);
- Water Bottle (1 - 2lts);
- Cash (If wanting to buy some plants);
- Any medication that may be required.
*** Please note that this walk and talk is suitable for those with a 'moderate' fitness level and is only suitable for those who can walk approx. 2 - 3kms, without any adverse problems.
Toilets and water refill stations are scattered throughout the Botanical gardens, as are picnic areas and related facilities that are suitable to rest if / when required.
