Are you a high school student passionate about the environment, sustainability, and making a real impact? Join us for a free in-person information session to learn how you can become part of the Vizcaya Teen Environmental Council (VTEC)—a teen-led leadership program designed for creative minds and future changemakers.

What is VTEC?

The Vizcaya Teen Environmental Council (VTEC) is a teen-led leadership program focused on urban agriculture, environmental sustainability, and community impact. More than a leadership opportunity, VTEC is a movement powered by teens like you.

As a VTEC member, you will:

• 🌻 Cultivate real-world skills in sustainable farming and food systems
• ♻️ Design and lead teen-focused experiences that promote environmental awareness
• 🌍 Engage with the community through hands-on projects and special presentations with Miami's urban agriculture community
• 🌟 Develop leadership and teamwork abilities that extend beyond the garden
• 💵 Receive a monthly stipend and earn service hours

This session is required for all applicants to the 2026–2027 VTEC cohort. Here's what you’ll get:

• Learn about the program and what to expect.
• Meet Vizcaya staff and ask questions.
• Receive guidance on the application process.
• Get a first look at upcoming projects and opportunities to make an impact.

Sessions will be hosted in the Mechanic Shop at Vizcaya Village, near the Garage and public restrooms.

QUALIFICATIONS | To apply, you must:

1. Be a 10th- or 11th-grade student during the 2026–2027 school year.
2. Complete the online application by Sunday, September 13, 2026.
3. Attend one (1) informational session (virtual or in-person).
4. Commit to attending weekly VTEC sessions on Thursdays from 4:30–6:30 p.m.
5. Teens can choose to participate in Semester A, Semester B, or both:

• Semester A: Thursdays, October through the end of November
• Semester B: Thursdays, January through the end of February, with a culminating event on Sunday, February 28, 2027
