When the waters rise, what rises within us? Explore joy, grief, hope, and the spaces in between.
About this Event

Living Studio presents Intertidal States, an environmental art exhibition exploring stormwater as both a physical reality and a metaphor for the emotional states we inhabit facing environmental change. Inspired by the intertidal zone, the exhibition considers the ways we, too, oscillate between seemingly opposing states: grief and joy, action and inaction, denial and hope.

Intertidal States, curated by Lauren Reilly, brings together artists working across materials and approaches to consider how stormwater shapes not only the places we live, but also how we feel, respond, and imagine what comes next. Featured artists include Living Studio’s inaugural Artist in Residence Kenzie Funk, alongside John DeFaro, Shelby Slayden, and Lauren Reilly.

Opening Reception

Join us on October 8 for the opening reception from 6-9pm, featuring a water-inspired sound experience (7pm) that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the exhibition through another sensory dimension. Come experience the exhibition, meet the artists and community, and reflect on your own intertidal state.

More details about the opening program and community science activities will be announced soon.
