About this Event
Honeygar Reserve: Discovery of a New Prehistoric Trackway
A fascinating talk by lead archaeologist Arthur Hollinrake about the discovery of a new 6,000 year old trackway in March 2026, adding to our knowledge of Somerset's complex, ancient landscape.
Honeygar Farm is one of the few areas in the UK that still holds deep lowland peat - which are waterlogged wetland ecosystems.
This talk has been organised as part of Discover Nature fortnight, by the Step, Ride, Thrive project. The fortnight aims to connect people with nature across the Avalon Marshes reserves and in their local communities - and to promote active travel opportunities, including walking, cycling, and the pilot 668 bus from Street and Glastonbury to the Avalon Marshes Centre.
Step, Ride, Thrive is led by 23 parishes within Avalon and the Poldens and is funded by a grant from Somerset Council and the Somerset Association of Local Councils (SALC).
