Studies show that when environmental education is integrated into curricula, students are more engaged in learning, and student achievement increases in core academic areas—including STEM subjects. PLT’s rich educational materials and inquiry-based activities meet state and national academic standards across many subject areas. PLT activities are hands-on and multi-disciplinary and appeal to different learning styles and abilities. PLT is easy to implement, and enjoyable for teachers and students. Educators receive PLT materials at a PLT professional development workshop, which can be tailored to specific subject areas or grade levels, to teachers at individual schools and to pre-service college students, and for continuing education credits.
- PLT improves test scores by providing students with engaging curriculum about the natural world that can be applied to all subject areas and all grades.
- PLT provides PreK-12 teachers with a set of comprehensive environmental education materials that supplement their curriculum and can be easily integrated into lesson plans. PLT has hundreds of fully developed lesson plans that require minimal additional materials.
- PLT activities are aligned with state (and national) education standards, peer reviewed and tested in classrooms. They help meet education goals set by principals, district curriculum supervisors, state superintendents, Congress, the Administration.
- PLT includes suggestions for differentiated instruction in all its curriculum materials to provide students with different learning styles and abilities, and in rural, urban, and suburban settings, multiple avenues to acquire and process content.
- PLT gives educators the confidence to take their students outdoors to learn, and PLT’s hands-on activities make the learning fun and meaningful for students. Children love learning with PLT!
- PLT’s GreenSchools! program provides students a solid learning and leadership experience and can help save your school money!
