About this Event

Here is what author Lisa Scottoline said about Joe's book:

“I loved Joe Paone’s wonderful novel, THE BARON’S DAUGHTER, which is so beautifully written that it’s hard to believe it’s his debut. I found myself completely immersed in the love story of Angelina and Paolo, in what is at once a heartfelt romance, a compelling war story, and a meticulously-researched historical thriller.”
- Lisa Scottoline

A love forbidden. A truth buried. A nation on the brink.

1915, southern Italy. Angelina Ruffolo, the daughter of a powerful baron, yearns for more than a life of quiet obedience. But her family's plans don’t include Paolo—the soft-spoken gardener whose radical ideals and quiet courage have captured her heart. When Paolo is wrongly accused of M**der in a failed attempt to halt Italy’s march into war, Angelina is thrust into a world of secrets, lies, and deadly consequences.

As Paolo is forced from Pr*son to the front lines, and Angelina risks everything to uncover the truth, their bond is tested by betrayal, shifting allegiances, and the brutal tide of war. From the olive groves of Calabria to the blood-soaked trenches of the Isonzo, The Baron's Daughter weaves a tale of impossible choices, unwavering hope, and a love that refuses to be silenced.

Step into a sweeping historical novel where romance and resistance collide.

Joe Paone is an author of both adult and children's fiction. His works include The Baron’s Daughter and Michael and the Magic Christmas Mirror. He currently teaches history and government in the Philadelphia suburbs.

Joe holds a B.S.Ed. in History from West Chester University and a M.Ed. from Gwynedd Mercy University. Born in Ambler, Pennsylvania, he is the son of Italian-born immigrants. His Italian-American heritage plays a significant role in shaping his storytelling.

Blending his deep love of history with timeless themes of love, loyalty, and the human cost of war, The Baron’s Daughter marks his debut in historical fiction.

Joe enjoys spending time with his three children, inventing stories to spark their young imaginations. Michael and the Magic Christmas Mirror is a tribute to those cherished moments of storytelling.

Joe lives in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, with his wife, their three children, a beagle named Ellie, and a cat named Munchkin. When he's not writing or teaching, he enjoys playing guitar or spending time at the South Jersey shore and on the golf course.
