When was your last legal check-up? You see a doctor regularly even when we're not sick. Why not a lawyer when you're not in a court case? A new local non-profit legal aid, the Legal Wellness Clinic, is partnering with Oak Park Public Library to bring free legal check-ups to the library on Saturday, November 8th at 9:30am.They will ask you a series of questions, then provide you with a Legal Wellness Plan that highlights any areas of concern where the law might impact you, and some referrals for next steps. You will have the opportunity to talk to a licensed attorney about your plan and ask any questions about it. The process takes between 30-45 minutes and is completely free.
The check-up will cover these common issue areas:
Immigration
Housing
Family
Employment/Public Benefits
Debt/Credit/Consumer
Future/Safety Planning
