Award-winning steel-pan artist GARETH BURGESS brings the shimmering sound of the Caribbean to the forefront in an afternoon of island-infused jazz and reggae. A Canadian-born musician with deep Trinidadian roots, Burgess has spent more than three decades mastering the instrument, performing internationally with acclaimed ensembles including Kalabash and the Caribbean Jazz Collective, and arranging for some of Toronto’s leading steel orchestras. In a dynamic trio format, he transforms the steel pan into a fully expressive jazz voice—floating over deep reggae pockets, dancing through Caribbean rhythms, and illuminating familiar melodies with the unmistakable warmth of the islands.
