FREE Inclusive Family Art Workshop: The World in Color | SIP Arts
About this Event
Free Family Art Experiences Where Everyone Can Create, Connect and Belong
Every age. Every ability. Every way of creating is welcome.
Join SIP Arts Foundation for our Inclusive Expression Workshops, a series of free introductory family art experiences designed to bring children, teens, adults, caregivers, and families of all abilities together through creativity.
You don't have to consider yourself an artist. You don't need art experience. And there is no "right" way to create.
Our goal is to provide a welcoming space where every participant has the opportunity to explore, make choices, express themselves, and experience the joy of creating alongside others.
SIP Arts Foundation draws from inclusive arts curriculum and resources through our participation in the Kennedy Center's Access/VSA international arts and disability community. We are also an affiliate of The Arc of Illinois, reflecting our commitment to inclusion, accessibility, self-expression, and belonging for individuals with disabilities and their families.
COME EXPERIENCE SIP ARTS
These free introductory workshops are an opportunity to experience what our inclusive arts community is all about. During each session, families can create together in an inclusive, supportive environment. Explore art materials and techniques in different ways. Make individual choices instead of everyone being expected to create the exact same thing. Participate at their own pace and comfort level. Experience adaptations and supports when needed. Meet other families and members of the SIP Arts community. Discover future opportunities to create, connect, volunteer, and get involved.
Children, teens, adults, parents, caregivers, siblings and family members are welcome. Teens ages 13 to 18 are welcome to participate as artists, and teens who are interested in helping with future workshops can also let us know about their interest in Teen Volunteer opportunities.
SEPTEMBER THEME: THE WORLD IN COLOR
What does your world look like through YOUR eyes?
Color can tell a story without saying a single word. During The World in Color, families will explore how colors can communicate feelings, ideas, experiences and the way we see the world around us.
Participants will be encouraged to experiment with color combinations, materials and personal choices as they create artwork inspired by their own perspective.
Some artists may love bright colors. Others may prefer only a few. Some may mix, layer, blend or create something completely unexpected. All of it belongs.
Families can expect an experience that encourages color, emotion, exploration, individual perspective and creative freedom.
There is no "correct" way to see the world. Come show us your world in color.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Everyone. Our Inclusive Expression Workshops are designed for families and individuals of all abilities. Whether someone communicates with words, movement, pictures, gestures, an AAC device, art, or simply by choosing the color they want to use, we believe expression matters.
No diagnosis is required. No previous art experience is required. Come as you are.
