This September, our Friday Art Talks become Art Walks. Join Gallery staff and special guests as they lead walking conversations of the National Collection, landscapes and stories across the Gallery’s indoor and outdoor spaces. Celebrating the arrival of spring and part of Floriade About Town 2026, Friday Art Walks invite you to experience art and nature together, discovering the collection one step at a time.
This Art Walk starts at the Main Entrance.
Ever wondered how the Gallery cares for works of art in the Sculpture Garden? How do sculptures withstand Canberra’s changing seasons, weather and the elements? What happens when a work of art needs care, repair or conservation?
Join Conservators Courtney Crane and Isabelle Legg with Conservation Technician David Liu, for a rare behind-the-scenes look at the care and conservation of works of art in the National Gallery’s Sculpture and Australian Gardens.
Uncover hidden stories behind some of the Collection’s outdoor works, learn how conservation decisions are made and the ways that the Gallery protects these artworks for future generations.
