Cameron John was raised on the streets of Newcastle and molded by the frigid Canberran winters. Inspired by the folk he grew up with and the art rock he dove headfirst into, he brings a idiosyncratic, comedic approach to his lyrics, crafting high-stakes stories interwoven with song.
Call Me Sugarplum is an Indigenous singer-songwriter from Canberra who enjoys being obnoxiously purple. In the wild, she can often be found trying to fund her album through pure rage and busking outside of nightclubs at 3am. Alternatively, she can be seen trying to make sad indie-pop songs about mental health sound happy and danceable because being overtly sad seems too dramatic for her dramatics.
Canberra-born indie pop artist Oliver Vickers is proudly imperfect. Growing up in Australia’s most deliberately ordered city, music became a way to embrace himself and make sense of alienation. Oliver blends singable pop melodies with the intimacy of singer-songwriter storytelling, creating welcoming, emotionally charged songs - picture the diaristic writing of Gracie Abrams, the open-hearted delivery of Conan Gray and a crooning vocal style reflecting the years Oliver spent singing opera.
