About this Event

Free Creative Liberation Circle
A free, monthly in-person circle for creative reconnection and voice reclamation in Nyack, NY
Move your body, write your truth, and be witnessed—without performance, pressure, or perfection.

This space is for you if you’ve been trying to stay alive inside while keeping everything else afloat.

For the parents, the caregivers, the overfunctioners. For the former artists, the working creatives, the quiet seekers. For the ones who used to write, or want to—but can’t find the words, or the time, or the reason. For anyone who has something stirring inside but hasn’t had the space to meet it.

No performance. No pressure. Just a room, a circle, a shared breath—and an invitation to come home to yourself.

This circle was born from my own creative recovery journey—of trying to keep everything going while feeling slowly disconnected from my soul. I created this space because I know what it feels like to lose your voice in the busyness of caregiving, responsibility, and performance. I also know what it feels like to find it again—and how much easier that is when we don’t do it alone.

This is a space for the ones who:

  • Feel burnt out but don’t know how to stop.
  • Keep showing up for others but feel unseen themselves.
  • Miss a part of themselves that they can’t name.
  • Want to connect with their creativity—not as output, but as a pathway to presence.

You might not call it pain, exactly. It might feel more like:

  • Numbness
  • Irritation
  • Restlessness
  • Exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix
  • A quiet grief for something you can’t name

This isn’t a productivity space—it’s a healing space. A sacred pause to slow down, reconnect with your voice, and be reminded that you’re still in there.

What to Expect

Each month follows a familiar arc designed to restore your connection with your body, your truth, and your creative energy:

  • Opening grounding + gentle movement — to drop into your body and quiet the noise
  • A guided writing prompt or invitation — to meet the truth that’s ready to surface
  • Optional small-group or full-circle witnessing — to be seen, heard, and held (without feedback or fixing)
  • Closing movement ritual — to alchemize what surfaced through the body. This intuitive practice draws from somatic and imaginative movement to support integration, spiritual embodiment, and creative renewal. No dance experience required—just a willingness to let the body speak.

🌀 This Circle Is For You If…
  • You’re craving a return to your creative self—your voice, your truth, your aliveness
  • You’re holding a lot for others and need a place to land where nothing is required of you
  • You want to write, move, and be witnessed in a way that feels human—not performative
  • You’re curious about what might unfold when you’re honest on the page and in the body
  • You’re open to showing up with others in a space that values connection, not competition
  • You don’t need to be a writer or have your shit together—just a willingness to explore

🛑 This Circle Might Not Be the Right Fit If…
  • You’re looking for a completely silent, solo writing experience without shared moments
  • You feel uncomfortable with gentle movement or open-ended creative invitations
  • You prefer critique or structured instruction over exploration and self-expression
  • You’re not in a place where community-based creativity feels supportive right now
  • You’re looking for something more polished or product-focused than process-centered

✨ What You’ll Receive

  • A moment to exhale and return to yourself—beyond the roles you hold
  • Creative reconnection—even if it’s been years since you last wrote, danced, or made something just for you
  • Permission to show up messy—no need to have it all together, just come as you are
  • Guided writing and movement prompts to loosen stuck energy and spark insight
  • Community that sees you—no fixing, no performing, just being witnessed in your truth
  • Practices to work with hesitation rather than push it away
  • New language for your experience—especially around creative blocks, shame, or burnout
  • The reminder that joy isn’t a luxury—it’s a lifeline
  • A gentle nudge to take the next tiny creative risk—whatever that means for you
  • Access to Kelly Jo’s signature blend of ritual, writing, embodied practice, and deep listening

You don’t need to consider yourself a writer or artist to belong here. You just need to be willing to show up with your breath and your truth.

Meet Your Guide

Kelly Jo Lillian is a writer, creative guide, and trauma-informed educator with over a decade of experience helping people reconnect with their voice, creativity, and sense of aliveness.

She spent over 12 years working in theater, where she first learned the power of storytelling, community, and expression as tools for healing and connection. As a director and producer, she led V-Day events that empowered women to step onto the stage, reclaim their stories, and raise awareness and funds for the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women and Children.

For the past 11 years, Kelly Jo has taught special education in the South Bronx, where she became deeply grounded in trauma-informed practices. Her classroom has long been a space where creativity and emotional safety go hand in hand—and those same values now live at the center of her current offerings.

Kelly Jo’s work blends her background in theater and poetry with her personal journey of healing and creative reclamation. She draws on body-based practices and emotional exploration—including her ongoing study with Adriana Rizzolo of Body Temple Dance and Gretchen Cohoon Blackmore learning the practice of Authentic Movement—to help others slow down, listen inward, and reconnect with what’s true. Whether through workshops, group circles, or one-on-one guidance, she holds space for those ready to rediscover their creative spark and find their way home to themselves.

YOUR CREATIVITY IS SACRED. RECLAIM IT.
