About this Event
Join Made in ALX and the Friends of the Mt. Vernon Trail for a fun, outdoor activity and learn how cyanotype paper works with the sun to create images.
Cyanotype is a form of photographic printing that uses sunlight to create vivid cyan-blue prints with white designs. First developed in 1842, it was initially used to create copies of drawings and diagrams – giving us the word blueprint.
Cyanotype prints are beautiful and easy to make. All you need is sun, water, and your imagination. Cyanotype is photography without a camera. No experience necessary. This event is kid-friendly.
During the event participants will gather natural materials that they want to include on their cyanotype prints. After arranging the items on the pre-treated sun paper, we will leave the paper in direct sun for 5 to 10 min. After exposure to the sun, we will wash off the paper for you to take home.
