Free Community Movie Monday - To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar (1995)
Of all the movies in our Pride Month series this month, To Wong Fu... (1995) has to be the most fun and heartfelt.
Three New York drag queens (Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes, and John Leguizamo) win a trip to Hollywood for the Miss Drag Queen of America pageant, but while traveling cross-country, their car breaks down, leaving them stranded in a small, conservative Midwestern town.
The glamorous outcasts end up befriending the locals, empowering the townsfolk, and bringing vibrant life to the community before continuing on their journey.
Female director, politician, and social activist, Beeban Kidron is the director, and she is a really important human!
We could not show this movie to you for free without our wonderful sponsor: Vermillion Pride!
