Explore gain staging, EQ, effect stacking, and signal chain to create tones that cut through a mix, sit properly in a band setting, and translate across different environments.

Noah van Hezewyk has worked at Long & McQuade Oshawa for four years and is an active gigging and recording guitarist. He writes and performs with local bands Static Point and Vulpecula, bringing hands-on experience in live and studio tone development.

The RUSH “50 Something” tour hits stages across Canada in 2026. Rich Chycki, their legendary audio engineer, brings his mix secrets, his toolbox and his stories to four Toronto based Long & McQuade stores as part of the Learning Series in March. Rich will dissect a classic Rush song, discuss the plugins and mix process and rebuild it using modern techniques and best practices. Having remixed much of their material in Atmos, Rich will discuss what this has meant for their catalogue and how it is listened to today.
