Free as part of the Wisconsin History Maker’s Tour
Thursday, September 17, 2026
5:30pm – 7:30pm
Pre-registration Encouraged
Author Susan Apps-Bodilly, daughter of Wisconsin storyteller Jerry Apps, will highlight the food made by his mother and
feature recipes found in her well-worn recipe box. The recipes take us on a culinary tour of life on the farm during the Depression and World War II.
Seasoned with personal stories, menus, and family photos, this program recalls when electricity had not yet reached the farm.
After the talk, explore two hands-on stations about cookware, wood-burning stoves, and food preparation.
Image provided by Susan Apps-Bodilly (Susan and her two brothers, Jeff and Steve, in their family garden, very proud of their biggest pumpkin ever!)
