About this Event
This module aims to critically analyse the provision of multi-disciplinary care for children and young people in the community. Through the exploration of dimensions of community practice, clinical aspects, legal, ethical and policy participants will explore and critically evaluate the care, assessment and factors influencing the care of children and young people in the community setting.
• The module will provide stimulating lectures and classroom discussions to apply current understanding to the nursing practice from participants’ clinical areas. Participants undertaking this module are expected to be working within environments where they are looking after children and young people in the varied community settings.
• Participants should have a minimum 6 months experience in community based role and have completed local Induction programme
• The course is also open to autonomous registered healthcare workers looking to transition to work in the community setting
This module includes 3 blocks consisting of join days, accompanying e-learning activities and a portfolio of assessment.
The assessment for this module will be focused upon a child or young person of your choice and will include a presentations and a written piece of work.
This module does not carry any academic credits. However, should students wish to gain academic credits for this module there can speak to the lead staff member for further guidance regarding the process.
Module Learning Aims
By the end of this module students will be able to:
• Critically evaluate scope and responsibilities of an autonomous practitioner in the community setting
• Critically analyse factors impacting children’s health in the community setting
• Assess, plan and deliver evidenced-led community based care of the child and family
• Critically evaluate the socio-political context for community based care
