What exactly is "After Dark?"
It's not ghost hunting. It's not a haunted house. And despite the name, it isn't necessarily about wandering in complete darkness.
"After Dark" is about experiencing history differently.
Historic places have stories that don't always fit neatly into history books. Some are documented. Some have been shared by those who lived and worked there. And some remain unexplained to this day, the kind of stories that make you stop, lean in a little closer, and perhaps leave with goosebumps.
Fort Omaha has stood for more than 150 years, witnessing military triumphs and tragedy, welcoming generations of soldiers and officers, and quietly collecting stories that continue to spark curiosity. There are moments in its history that simply can't be explained away, and those are the stories we'll explore together.
Douglas County Historical Society is excited to introduce Fort Omaha After Dark, a 90-minute historical paranormal walking tour led by Jamie Nestroyl of Midwest Paranormal History Tours. Guests will stroll along historic Officers Row as history, mystery, and the unexplained begin to overlap in fascinating ways.
The "After Dark" experience embraces the paranormal through a historical lens. It's about the stories that have been shared for generations, the unexplained moments that continue to spark curiosity, and the lingering questions that remain unanswered. It's the feeling you get when history and mystery intersect and discovering that some of Fort Omaha's most fascinating stories still have no explanation today. This is a walking tour, so guests should expect to be on their feet for the duration of the event. Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended.
