This Event will present a host of forest management techniques and solutions that can be applied to small forest ownerships such as homesteads, small farms, and woodlots. Topics will include using low quality hardwood logs for mushroom farming, firewood production, and small scale sawmilling. The material presented will use a do it yourself approach for tackling common woodlot problems. Issues such as overstocked stands, overgrown brush, and undesirable trees will be addressed with applicable solutions. The program will include use of livestock grazing in vegetation management and small scale Silvopasture systems as well. The focus will be on ownerships 40 acres and less in size and will discuss the challenges these ownerships provide in locating forest consulting and contracting services.
