Description: We are surrounded – but by what exactly? District Forester, Shane Duigan of the Maine Forest Service will guide this educational journey through the woods focusing on the fundamentals of identifying the trees that surround us.
Shane Duigan is the District Forester for the Maine Forest Service (MFS) serving Cumberland, Androscoggin and Sagadahoc counties. He has a B.S. in Land Use from the University of Maine at Orono and an M.S. in Forestry from the Yale School of Forestry. Shane has worked in the woods in some capacity (forester, environmental consultant, logger) for 25 years.

Directions to the Education Barn: Follow GPS directions to the Market at 15 Farm View Drive, New Gloucester, Maine. Continue past the Market on Farm View Drive and take your first left onto Valley Farm Rd. Follow Valley Farm Rd. until you see the Smokehouse Visitors Center (white silo) on the right-hand side. Take the right-hand turn immediately after the Smokehouse down to the Family Farmyard. The Education Barn is the largest barn on the farmyard.
