Forest Friends: Parent + Child Nature Hike + Yoga + Art (Chapin Forest)

Parent+Child kickoff hike at Chapin Forest! A fun nature walk to the ancient ledges with simple yoga, rock art, and a scavenger hunt.
About this Event

Celebrate the beautiful kickoff to October with your little explorer on a hands-on, magical journey through the ancient ledges of Chapin Forest!

Welcome to week one of our Fall Outdoor Wellness series—uniquely tailored for our "Forest Friends" child and adult duos!

Long before the glaciers carved Northeast Ohio, this entire region was covered by a massive inland sea. Today, giant 300-million-year-old ledge rocks stand like majestic castle walls, completely covered in soft, plush blankets of bright green moss. This adventure is playfully crafted for young children and their grown-ups to connect deeply with nature, move their bodies, and explore the outdoors together through sensory play and imagination.

🎒 Our October 6 Kickoff Flow

• The Check-In & Nature Art Station: We will gather outside the main ski lodge building. Look for the colorful pinwheels marking our check-in station! To ground our energy and spark our creativity, we will begin right away with a Hands-On Nature Rock Art Activity. Kids and adults will collaborate on a beautiful, minimal-mess eco-gift using real stones, setting a joyful intention for our hike.
• Playful Yoga & Breathwork: Before hitting the trail, we will gather together for a few light, simple stretches and fun breathing exercises to wake up our bodies and connect with the natural world around us.
• The Moss & Rock Safari: We will take a mindful, guided walk along Arbor Lane to the famous Lucky Stones Trail. Kids will use their "Explorer Eyes" on a playful Seek-and-Find mission to spot velvet tree socks, moss blankets, and hidden pebble pockets inside the giant rocks.
• The Ledge Placement & The Treasure: Deep inside the ledges, children will find a secret nook or mini-cave to place their crafted rock art as a gift to the forest. Once their gift is given, each child will receive a smooth, special take-home lucky stone to slip into their pocket as a treasure of their own!
• Closing Circle: We will wrap up our safari by sharing our favorite hiding spots, soft textures, and discoveries from the trail!
