Bring your little explorer for a magical, ultra-short canopy walk to witness the sweeping fall colors of Big Creek Valley!

Welcome to week three of our Fall Outdoor Wellness series—uniquely tailored for our "Forest Friends" child and adult duos! This week, we are gathering at the beautiful, dense woods of Girdled Road Reservation. Our trail of choice is the breathtaking Valley View Overlook Trail. Because it is a paved, completely flat, and ADA-accessible path that spans just 0.1 miles round-trip, it is the absolute perfect staging ground for stroller-bound babies, toddlers, and adult helpers to experience grand nature views with zero exhaustion.This adventure is playfully crafted to blend sensory outdoor play, deep tree-canopy relaxation, and an interactive musical symphony that little hands will love.

🎒 Our Adventure Flow

• The Check-In & Crown Creation: We will gather outside at the North Entrance parking lot. Look for our signature colorful pinwheels marking our welcome station! To kick off our morning, we will create a beautiful DIY Nature Leaf Crown. Little hands will gather freshly fallen autumn leaves and tuck them into comfortable bands, turning every child into a forest prince or princess for our walk.
• The 0.1-Mile Color Stroll: Wearing our crowns, we will take a super short, flat walk along the paved path straight out to the gorgeous Valley View Overlook deck. Along the way, we will play "Explorer Eye" games to spot different leaf shapes and admire the bright changing autumn colors.
• Cozy Hammock Story Nooks: Out at the overlook clearing, we will set up a magical village of cozy, low-slung hammocks beneath the trees. Families can climb in, cuddle up, and relax under the autumn canopy while flipping through beautiful nature-themed storybooks together.
• Interactive Forest Sound Symphony: To awaken our senses, we will collaborate on a live forest sound performance! Your host will guide the group through playful Five Element Breathing exercises (Whoo, Shhhh, Haaa, Mmmmm, Ssss), representing different textures of nature. The kids will then be handed a variety of beautiful, child-friendly instruments—including gentle sound bowls, hand bells, and rustling corn shakers—to orchestrate our very own musical autumn symphony under the trees.
• Closing Circle: We will wrap up our morning cozy in our hammocks, sharing our favorite sounds and views from the valley overlook!
