Forest Bathing Under a Bodhi Tree

Times like these were made for forest therapy! To address the anxiety, exhaustion, and disorientation many of us are experiencing, Forest Bathing Hawaiʻi offers seven Sundays of free forest bathing sessions at the historic Kapiʻolani Park in Waikīkī. (See location details below.)

"Forest Bathing" (translated from "shinrin-yoku," an established public health practice in Japan) is a growing global wellness movement backed by 30+ years of scientific research on the physical and psychological benefits of immersing yourself in nature. The Relational Forest Therapy approach that your certified forest therapy guide practices offers further opportunities to remember that we are part of the natural world, to reinvest in your individual purpose, and to restore a sense of community.

Through a sequence of open-ended prompts from your guide, youʻll be invited to play, to rest, and to come back to your senses. Thereʻll be moments of interaction with other participants (sharing of your noticings, if you like), as well as time to sit quietly in contemplation. A large bodhi tree, a symbol of spiritual enlightenment, provides shade and a call to awaken.

• Meet at the furthest Diamond Head Mauka corner of Queen Kapiʻolani Park, near Poni Moi Road. Free street parking in the area, but please allow time to find a space.
• RECOMMENDATIONS: bring a towel or mat to sit on, dress in layers (rain gear, if weather indicates). For your safety, please wear shoes, sandals, or slippers (flip flops).
