Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk on an airport runway? Well, here is your opportunity.
Whether you're an aviation enthusiast or simply looking for a unique community experience, we'd love to see you there!
The Greenville Downtown Airport would like to invite you to join us for our annual foreign object debris (FOD) walk on August 22nd from 6:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.
Join us for coffee and donuts before we clean up the runway of FOD. This is only one of two times that we close the runway for the public. Everyone is Welcome! We will meet behind the terminal building.
FOD are small objects that can damage aircraft, jet engines, and airport equipment. Every piece removed helps keep our airport safe for pilots, passengers, and airport personnel. Enjoy great conversation with fellow aviation enthusiasts, airport tenants, and community members. We'll even award prizes for the most unusual items found on the runway!
What to expect:
• Walk on an active airport runway at sunrise
• Coffee, donuts, and water provided
• Prizes for unique FOD finds
• Meet local pilots and aviation professionals
Help us keep GMU safe—one step at a time.
