About this Event
About the Event
Once upon a time, dancing on Good Friday was forbidden. We are of the view that dance belongs, as a communal way for a deeper experience of life.
This year, we’re offering a space for reflection, exploration, release and renewal. Forbidden is a special Dance gathering back at The loft — an invitation to move and connect with yourself and others through music and movement. No choreography, no talking on the dancefloor, just a shared journey through music.
Everyone is welcome.
No experience needed.
Just bring yourself.
We gather again at The Loft, Folkestone’s new space, for embodied movement and stillness.
Arrive: 6:45 PM fo 7 PM
- Arrive and settle into the space
- Opening circle and warm up games with Sasha
- Live DJ set with André
- Closing circle and gathering with soft drinks and home made snack
A space to move, breathe, play and reconnect.
What is Ecstatic Dance?
Ecstatic Dance is a free-form, alcohol-free movement journey guided entirely by music. No choreography. No steps to learn.
Simply follow your body, your pace, your truth — wild, soft, playful or still.
The music rises, peaks and softens, supporting release and integration.
Two Simple Principles
- No Words – drop out of the mind and into the body once we start
- Come As You Are – substance-free, phone-free, full respect for self and others
We welcome dancers and non-dancers alike — ages 18 to 100.
What to Bring
- A bottle of water
- Clothes you can move and rest in
- Shoes - unusually for Ecstatic Dance we suggest you may wish to keep the shoes on! The floor might be uneven in the more industrial space. Please look after your feet and knees!
