As recordings of folk music started to preserve America’s musical heritage, the rise of the recording industry led to the rise of labels with a unique focus on folk and roots music. In this moderated conversation, Linnea Paton, whose grandparents founded Folk Legacy Records, Eli Smith of Jalopy Records, and Don Wade of Collegium Sound discuss the intersection of passion and profit in recording these genres.
This event forms part of Carnegie Hall's United in Sound: America at 250 festival.
